Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Still Release As A Multi-Part Series

Yesterday, we reported on Square Enix teasing Final Fantasy VII Remake during PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast. The upcoming remake of the 1997 turn based-RPG is slated to release on PS4 and will gain more info this June. In the meantime, Square Enix published a blog post reconfirming that FFVII will still release in multiple parts.

It’s no doubt that it’s been a long time since Square Enix released anything on FFVII Remake. Although radio silence on this project has been fixed as of May 9th, 2019, there is still a lot of unanswered info floating around. According to Square Enix that will change this June (presumably during E3 2019).

Moreover, key staff from the original release are still together to re-tell the “epic story” and bring the familiar “captivating characters” back onscreen, but some of it will be done through multi-parts as relayed on December 6th, 2015:

“FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience.”

Here’s the new blog post by Square Enix that coincides with the above info. The company released the following today on

“The original version [Final Fantasy VII] was released on PlayStation in 1997, and attracted many people with its magnificent and inspiring story, charming characters, and graphics that used cutting-edge technology at the time, and has recorded a total worldwide sales of more than 1,100 million copies* so far.”

The blog post continues and reads:

“Final Fantasy VII Remake — which will release on PlayStation 4 — is a full remake of Final Fantasy VII, and there is a lot of content under review, and as such the game will be in multiple parts. We will inform you about new information in June. Please stay tuned.”

It’s worth noting that Square Enix live broadcast is scheduled to take place on June 10th, 2019, at 6:00 P.M. PT / 9:00 P.M. ET. With that said, June or E3 will be the bearer of Final Fantasy VII Remake-related news so keep that in mind.
